芳武茂介デザインコレクション「鉄皿・鉄鉢」
Mosuke Yoshitake Design Collection
芳武茂介没後、13回忌にあたる2005年11月に企画された「芳武茂介展」～近代デザインの実践と産業化の足跡～の開催を記念し、1954年～1955年にデザインされた鉄皿・鉄鉢を復刻いたしました。
これらの鉄器は芳武の初めて手がけた山形鋳物のデザインです。一連のデザインは小石を思わせる有機的な形で表現され、高度な鋳物技術を駆使して肉厚を薄く整え、鋳肌の美しさも際立っています。山形鋳物の特長を表す「薄肉美麗」の言葉そのものの作品です。これらは1954年、産業工芸試験所主催の“デザインと技術”展に出品し好評を博した作品です。
In November 2005, the 13th anniversary of the death of Mosuke Yoshitake, we planned the "Mosuke Yoshitake Exhibition"-the practice of modern design and the footsteps of industrialization-.
In commemoration of the event, we reproduced the iron plates and bowls he designed from 1954 to 1955.
These iron wares were designed by Yoshitake for the first time in a Yamagata casting. The series of designs is expressed in an organic form reminiscent of pebbles, making use of advanced casting technology to reduce the wall thickness, and the beauty of the casting surface is also outstanding. It is a work of the very word "Thin beauty" that expresses the characteristics of Yamagata casting.
These works were exhibited at the "Design and Technology" exhibition sponsored by the Industrial Crafts Laboratory in 1954, and were well received.
